An Analysis of Domestication and Foreignization in Subtitle Translation of the Green Book from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

Subtitles are an indispensable component of modern movies, which plays a crucial role in the process transmitting plot information. Therefore, excellent subtitle translation is finishing touch movie. In translation, translators usually need to choose between two basic strategies, namely domestication and foreignization. From perspective Skopos Theory, this article studies application foreignization strategies through case study film The Green Book. Through analysis, it can be found that there significant differences different cultures. Taking cultural into consideration, under guidance applying flexibly maximize advantages these strategies. Only by making full use presenting complete appropriate subtitles cross-cultural communication achieved dissemination films.
